Penis enlargement

Penis enlargement encompasses lengthening, circumference (girth) enlargement, or a combination of lengthening and circumference (girth) enlargement. Today we have numerous surgery techniques that have some of these goals.

Normal size of penis for European population is 12-17cm. Penis enlargement is a part of genital cosmetic surgery and can be done so that the penis is made longer or thicker.

Penile lengthening

The technique that is most often used involves the release of the penis ligaments, which separates the hidden part of the penis base from its links with pubic bone and makes it visible.

The gain ranges from 1 to 3cm, depending on the patient’s anatomy.

Penile widening

There are various ways of penis widening, which use different materials (patient’s fat, artificial material, tissue matrix ...)

In our hospital we use the latest method for penile widening for a few years now. It means using autologous tissue matrix, i.e. its own tissue.

Namely, for 2-3 weeks before the operation, we take a sample from the mesoderm of the patient’s testis about the size of 1ccm and 100ml of blood. All this is done in local anesthesia. The tissue sample and the blood are sent to a special laboratory where cells are taken out from the tissue. These are fibroblasts that multiply in a cell matrix for 2-3 weeks until we have a desired number. After that the cells are populated onto special cylindrical trays – scaffolds, which are made of PLGA (polilakti-co-glicolic acid).

The scaffolds, along with the implanted cells, are then surgically inserted under the skin on the penis to widen it. Soon after the implantation, scaffolds begin to disintegrate and the cells start to multiply.

3-4 months after that the scaffolds are completely disintegrated, while the cells are multiplied in great numbers, which leads to permanent, physiological penis widening.

Widening, too, varies from person to person, and can be 3-5cm in circumference.

Recovery period

Surgical procedures last from 90 minutes to 3 hours. Post-operative recovery is fast and patients stay in hospital for up to two days. The patient can go to work as soon as five day after the operation. Antibiotics are usually administered for a week, except when some prosthetic is inserted, which requires longer administration.

Post-operative treatment for penile surgery encompasses physical therapy, which means using special vacuum devices, the so called penis lengtheners, which prevent the possibility that the penis base becomes attached to the bones again and thus the situation goes to the pre-surgery state of the matter. It is advisable to use this device for 6 months, 2-3 times a day, for 15-30 minutes.
