Removal of facial scars caused by acne
As a consequence of wrong treatment of facial acne there are often serious changes that cannot be covered by corrective make-up. Such scars may be removed by the method known as dermal abrasion. It is a mechanical removal of superficial skin layers by a special device. The removal can go as deep as germinative layer of cells whose division enables skin regeneration.
Depending to the depth of the scars, sometimes it is necessary to repeat the procedure in order to gain better results. Such procedures may be performed in local and general anesthesia depending o the size of the area that is to be treated. Choice of anesthesia will determine preoperative procedures and post operative recovery procedures.
Beside dermal abrasion, facial scar changes may be treated by chemical peelings as well when, depending on the extension of changes, gradual flattening of upper skin surface is accomplished or satisfactory esthetic result is gained just after one treatment.
Regardless of the method you choose, upon consultations with a surgeon, it is important to know that such interventions are performed in late fall, winter or early spring, to avoid possible stains caused by exposure to sun rays during the immediate post operation course of newly grown skin.
